Chris Javens


Chris Javens provides clients with a range of services, including analysis of tax policy proposals and advocacy services to help them develop and implement legislative and regulatory solutions.  Chris’s principal areas of focus include corporate, partnership, and international tax matters.

Before joining Capitol Tax, Chris was the Republican Tax Counsel for the Senate Finance Committee in the 109th and 110th Congresses, primarily responsible for corporate and international tax matters, advising Committee Members on all major tax legislation from summer 2005 through spring 2008, including the Gulf Opportunity Zone Act of 2005, the Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005, the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006, and the Small Business and Work Opportunity Tax Act of 2007.

Before joining the Finance Committee staff, Chris served as Senior Tax Counsel and Senior Director of Tax Compliance and Financial Reporting at Wyeth, as Senior Tax Counsel at Honeywell, as a tax associate at White & Case LLP, and as a tax consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Chris earned his LLM in taxation from New York University School of Law, JD from Columbia Law School, and BS in finance from Penn State University.
